A Nevada judge signed off on the family of late 90 Day Fiance star David Murphey taking over control of his six-figure estate after the family revealed he did not leave behind a will, In Touch can exclusively report.
According to court documents obtained by In Touch, a Clark County Court judge approved the petition filed by David’s sister Robyn Polinsky, which will allow her to manage her late brother’s assets, pay his bills and handle any business.
David died on December 11, 2024, at the age of 66. In her filing, Robyn wrote, “[David] was a single, unmarried man, with no children, either living or deceased,” Robyn wrote. “He was predeceased by both of his parents.”
David was survived by his sister Robyn and another sister Cheryl Hastings.
The reality star and businessman had a third sister named Linda Murphey, but she died before him.
In her petition, Robyn revealed her brother did not have a will detailing who he wanted his assets to go to in the event of his death.
“Due inquiry and search have been made to ascertain if [David] left a Last Will and Testament, or some other instrument dispositive of his estate, but none has been found and, according to [Robyn’s] best knowledge, information, and belief, [David] died interstate.”
Robyn said the only heirs to the estate were her and her sister.
She explained that David had left behind real and personal property worth over $300,000.
According to real estate records obtained by In Touch, David owned the three-bedroom, three-bathroom, 1,535-square-foot home located in Las Vegas, that he died in.
Property records state David purchased the pad in 2004 for $190,325. The home has an estimated value of $387,700 as of today.
“All liquid assets of the estate should be placed in an attorney trust account, pending further order of this court,” David’s sister’s petition read.
David’s sister also explained she discovered that her brother owned a Montana LLC named Daves Nomadic Life. She said it is a business where David owned a 2023 Cornerstone 45-B motor vehicle.
She told the court, “It is in the best interest of the estate, and it is necessary that the administrator have authority to continue the operation of such company and to have authority to access bank accounts, receive payments and pay bills, execute agreements, contracts and other legal documents on behalf of the company and to liquidate and dispose of the motor vehicle.”
In Touch obtained the death certificate for David, which revealed his cause of death as cardiac arrhythmia and hypertensive cardiovascular disease.
The document indicated that David’s death was “natural” and that he was cremated at a local funeral home. The certificate said no autopsy was performed.
TMZ reported that David had been battling liver cancer for over a year. The outlet said he had over 13 surgeries and another surgery one scheduled before he passed.
The family said, “David was a veteran, small business owner, and software engineer. He had recently retired from the Clark County Treasurer’s office in Nevada, having also worked for H&R Block and IGT.”
The statement continued, “He was also well known for his time as a cast member on 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days. His time on the show allowed him to connect with viewers, see the world, and share his experiences with his thousands of followers on Instagram.”
They ended, “He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and fans. David has survived by his two sisters and his cat Gamera.” David became a household name after appearing on season 4 of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days, where viewers met his Ukrainian girlfriend, Lana.
David eventually proposed to Lana and she accepted. However, the relationship ended a short time later.
